Bib was born when the Michelin brothers had a booth at an expo in France in 1894. One of them noticed a stack of their tires resembled the shape of a person, and hired a cartoonist to create a promotional poster of a man made of bicycle tires "drinking up road obsacles" which would be used by the company for the next fifteen years.
It wasn't until 1912 that tires changed from a beige-white complexion to the black colour we recognize today (from a carbon preservative and strengthening agent) which explains why Bib has always been white in colour.
Bib has represented Michelin in many countries around the world, even appearing in stained glass at the "Michelin House", the company's UK headquarters in London.
